Hydro massage Bathtub Circuit
  1. A receptacle must not be installed within a bathtub or shower enclosure. NEC 406.8(C).

  2. Hydromassage bathtub electrical equipment must be accessible without damage to the building structure of finish. NEC 680.73.

  3. All 125-Volt, single-phase receptacle outlets within 5 ft. measured horizontally from the inside walls of the hydromassage tub are required to be GFCI-protected. NEC 680.71.

  4. All metal piping systems, electrical equipment metal parts and pump motors must be bonded together using No. 8 ( or larger) solid copper bonding jumper (insulated, covered or bare).

  5. Metal parts of listed equipment incorporating an approved double insulation system and providing a grounding means for internal non accessible, concurrent carrying metal pats must not be bonded. NEC 680.74.

  6. Disconnects shall be within sight of motor. NEC 422.31.

  7. Disconnect may be cord and plug.  NEC 422.33.

  8. Fixtures Location, Bathtub and Shower Areas, NEC 410.4(D): No parts of cord-connected fixtures, hanging fixtures, lighting track, pendants, or ceiling-suspended (paddle) fans shall be located within a zone measured 3 ft horizontally and 8 ft vertically from the top of the bathtub rim or shower stall threshold.
